SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Autodesk® 3ds Max® and 3ds Max Design® 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025

miauu's Manage Links helps you to link Sketchup, Rhino, Autocad or your preferred BIM or CAD program with 3ds Max.

It is incredibly fast and will save you ages. Heavy files with millions of polygons are processed smoothly and fast.

What it does is to import the models, clean and fix the imported geometry and split it in one object per material. The resulting objects will be saved as a .fbx file and you can link it to 3ds Max manually or miauu's Manage Links can link it for you automatically.

miauu's Manage Links uses the default 3ds Max file linking.

Supported file types that can be imporeted are SKP and OBJ.

Splines will not be imported.

With the skp files miauu's Manage Links works best when the old SKP importer is used. The new SKP importer in 3ds max 2020 offers limited settings that can be tweeked by the users compared to the old SKP importer, used in 3ds max 2019 and previous versions. The lack of some of the options in the new SKP importer may lead to improperly imported models. Because of this it is recomended the saved .skp files to be saved for Sketchup 2014 and lower version, no matter of the version that you use.

If you use ForestPack or Multiscatter the objects they create will be updated after link updating.

You can download the miauu's Manage Links reference file(that explains how to install it and the user interface) from here.

v. 1.5.01
+ NEW: Added support for 3ds Max 2023.

v. 1.5
+ NEW: You can change the path name of any linked skp file. All materials and modifiers will be transfered to newly imported models.
+ NEW: Show file size of the FBX file
+ NEW: If the file size of the FBX file is 0 kB the link will not be created

v. 1.4
+ NEW: Added support for 3ds Max 2022.
+ NEW: Delete Empty Layers. Can be found in the Options rollout.
+ NEW: Skip Hidden Objects. Can be found in the Options rollout.

v. 1.3
+ NEW: Import Cameras(Sketchup only). Can be found in the Options rollout - imports the cameras from .skp files.
+ NEW: the checked state of the linked files will be saved.
+ Speed Improvement: Clean, Fix, Split per material works much faster.

v. 1.2

Thank you very much! i have been waiting for this script for years.

This is a "dream can true" tool for the architects.

If you model in Sketchup and then render your masterpieces in Max- it's MUST HAVE tool. The speed and reliability* are insane. Millions of polygons get processed (import model>combine by material>linking) almost instantly. The workflow (effortless updating your model without need to re-apply material assignments) is very comparable to Lumion's one. Game changer! *-if you have to deal with heavy models via standard tools (=fbx importer with 'combine by material' option On) at some point the linking process will just get stuck.
